The WAZ newspaper dubbed Ruhr University Bochum a ‘university in the countryside’, and the institution remains a real magnet for architecture lovers and photographers alike. The campus architecture has clearly fulfilled its founding purpose. RUB lives and breathes its ‘universitas’ spirit and is perceived as a unique community.
The task
The task was to base the entire concept around products that were in keeping with the period in which the original university campus was built. The zeitgeist had to be clearly recognisable in a classic, familiar design language.

Our solution
The decision to use ECO Schulte products for this project was simple: Classic and contemporary U-shaped handles from the ECO D-110 / D 116 series, maintenance-free hinges with a load of up to 160 kg per hinge, and stainless steel ball bearings capable of withstanding the high demands of university use.
