With the design of the new IKEA store in Copenhagen, architect Dorte Mandrup is adding a much-needed green lounge to the city center.
To make the construction and daily energy consumption as sustainable as possible, the store is aiming for BREEAM “outstanding” certification - one of the world‘s leading ratings for sustainability.

250 trees and shrubs, greenery on the façade, 1450 m2 of solar panels and the reuse of water from the canals to cool the store are among the key elements in achieving BREEAM “outstanding” certification.
