Automation of escape doors - how best to solve the situation described?

A previously mechanically secured escape door at the side exit of a daycare center is to be retrofitted with a motorized lock. "It can't be that difficult," says the customer as he bids the door builder farewell after the inspection.

Does the customer underestimate this task?

Solution 1:
A real locked door here means: Motor lock with real locking. But this is much larger than the previous, mechanical lock. Even if there were enough space for the exchange, you have to get to the profile of the door and mill. The same applies to the electricity - the cable must be routed from the hinge side to the lock. For both: drilling, screwing, fiddling - a lot of work. That will be expensive! Neither selling nor installing is a walk in the park.

Solution 2:
Some tasks cannot be solved. You have to tell the customer that, too. Or if they can be solved, no one wants to pay for it. Or they can be solved - but cause more trouble than sales - and we don't have enough suitable personnel for the conversion anyway. So kind of brush off an order like that and advise a new door.

Solution 3:
If the customer has time until Q3/2023, he can simply leave his old lock in the profile. The EPN 2000 III (then available) is simply mounted on the square of the lever handle. This is the new motorized escape door touch bar from ECO Schulte, which can lock the lock electrically. And the cable is simply led from the hinge side into the touchbar - invisibly up to the motorized drive. Simply mounted everything on it without intervention in the profile. If the customer can wait this long, he saves money, we save time and nerves - and everyone is delightedt.
